Under the growing demands of competitive soccer, large portions of practice time are devoted to tactical rehearsals which address the strengths and shortcomings of the upcoming opponent. This is both a wise and sound practice if the team is to be competitive. Of equal importance, but rarely considered as such, is match management and game day organization. In this article, we will carefully detail a match day protocol that will allow the coach to project a positive mental state in which the players possess a sense of security, confidence and purpose.
